January 15: EngAGE Founder and Executive Director Tim Carpenter interviews Linda Grimes, Founder and Managing Director at San Pedro Waterfront Arts District, at 2 p.m. at PacArts  in San Pedro, CA.

January 23 and 24: "The Artfully Aging Radio Hour" project - At 7:00 p.m. at Pillsbury House Theatre in Minneapolis, two live shows will be performed and recorded for an upcoming Experience Talks radio broadcast and podcast. "The Artfully Aging Radio Hour" is a collaboration between CommonBond Communities and EngAGE.MN, in association with Pillsbury House Theatre, Hippocrates Café, and Aroha Philanthropies. It is a culminating event for EngAGE.MN's "The Power of Storytelling" class at Riverview Senior Housing. 


EngAGE thanks AARP for their important grant of $26,500 to develop a white paper on policy on how to replicate our model and make a business case for intergenerational and arts-and-aging programming in affordable housing in America. The paper is sponsored by AARP’s Office of Policy Development and Integration. More here.

EngAGE would like to thank The Eisner Foundation for its generous $150,000 grant in support of our program, EngAGE Across Generations, which improves the quality of life for more than 750 children from grades K-11, and for over 750 low-income seniors, through intergenerational education and mentoring collaborations. EngAGE would like to thank the Bank of America Charitable Foundation for its generous $10,000 Basic Needs Grant which we will use for our multi-faceted EngAGE in Wellness program. Please read the details of our program here.

Road Theatre Delivers Gifts

This was the seventh year of an annual tradition: First, EngAGE and The Road Theatre purchase toys and gift cards. Then NoHo SAC residents donate more gifts and help wrap them for the children who live at Vermont Senior Apartments. There's a beautiful Christmas tree and Santa shows up in person to deliver the gifts! (more)

On the Blog

Mirta Harris was our first GAIN applicant, through a Cal State LA program called EPIC (Educational Participation in the Communities) which creates opportunities for university students to implement classroom theory in real life situations. Mirta enjoyed her work for EngAGE so much that she wrote a thank-you letter which she kindly is allowing us to share. (more)
